Overview

The SAP Systems Engineer is responsible for delivering multi-scale, complex SAP-centric solutions that reflect best-practice business processes and leverage the latest tools and methodologies on the SAP technology platform to achieve high performing business operations.  Manages the application design, architecture and integration components.  This role will lead, collaborate with GIS, partner with functional divisions, and have a deep understanding of SAP, its roadmap and how it aligns with NTTS’s strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in defining SAP solution architectures which includes evaluation, selection and integration of necessary technical components to create solution designs that support defined functional and nonfunctional requirements
  • Comprehends documentation of the current and future state application and/or infrastructure architectures
  • Architect an SAP ecosystem that can scale in the volume of transactions as well as meet required performance characteristics for a global enterprise business now and into the future
  • Create a unified SAP architecture which reduces rework and increases efficiencies through automation
  • Build up greater SAP architectural competencies within all GIS teams
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Leads/performs systems engineering projects/activities of moderate to substantial complexity; plans and reviews project schedules; assists in strategic planning; prepares status reports; coordinates project resources; communicates with all project participants on relevant issues, identifies and resolves system infrastructure and application issues
  • Establishes schedules and methods for providing system application project services; identifies resource needs; reviews need with appropriate management staff; allocates resources accordingly
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures; monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures
  • Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives; implements approved policies and procedures
  • Develops technical requirements for assigned projects; determines hardware and/or software necessary to accomplish projects; evaluates resources; makes hardware and/or software recommendations
  • Maintains relevant knowledge and awareness of new trends and innovations within areas of expertise
  • May participate in the evaluation, screening, and selection of new-hires; provide or coordinate staff training; may work with employees to correct deficiencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of SAP implementation experience
  • Provide recommendations and guidance on the SAP platform and tools
  • Experience on how to consume HANA information models using best practices and standards
  • Knowledge of integrating HANA information models with SAP Fiori and other UI5
  • Experience with SAP Cloud Platform and SAP Cloud Integration
  • Understanding of integrating SAP HANA data to SQL and NoSQL platforms
  • Experience and deep knowledge of SAP systems, including SAP Business Suite, S/4HANA, and the required architecture and infrastructure to support them
  • Define overarching architecture guidelines and best practices
  • Functional/technical proficiency with at least 2+ full lifecycle SAP implementations
  • Understanding of SAP roadmap around Cloud products and how it integrates with on-prem solutions
  • Experience and deep knowledge of SAP system migration or upgrades
  • Experience in SAP Backup, Recovery and High Availability architectures
  • Experience with global Solution Manager implementations ( v 7.2 and higher )
  • Ability to work constructively as an individual or in groups with minimal supervision
  • MBA and or Master’s degree in computer engineering desired
  • Strong understanding of ITSM policies, processes, and procedures
  • Experience managing 24x365 environments
  • Excellent communications skills–verbal and written
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, function and deliver effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Work occurs in a normal business environment but the requirements of the job will necessitate being available to support critical systems 24x365
