Overview

The Senior Network Security Engineer - Cisco will primarily be responsible for expert-level implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Fortinet devices and other network security appliances/systems as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with external clients on change requests and troubleshooting
  • Perform risk assessments for clients and provide the findings and recommendations
  • Communicate and manage client needs and expectations
  • Work with internal resources to ensure proper security controls are identified, implemented and tested
  • Document policies and operating procedures
  • Review contracts and scopes of work
  • Perform quality control of deliverables
  • Maintain and expand client relationships via phone and email, periodic in-person visits to client sites
  • Provide leadership and training to Solutionary employees on deliverables and services
  • Interoperate with internal teams including Security Operations Center (SOC), Service Delivery Managers (SDM), Information Security Engineering Team (ISET), Regional Technical Managers (RTM), and others
  • Lead technical discussions with technical and non-technical audiences including executives, managers, engineers, and end-users
  • Assist with client platform onboarding initiatives
  • Lead initiatives for new builds, upgrades, platform conversions, and cutovers in complex enterprises
  • Vulnerability research
  • Work closely with client and internal teams on complex mid- and long-term projects
  • Contribute to discussions concerning security design and architecture with client and internal teams
  • Coordinate with client change control process, maintenance windows
  • Participate in a regular on-call rotation, availability as an SME resource
  • Open vendor support tickets, working with vendor support to resolve advanced issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, MIS, related field, or equivalent experience

  • CISSP, Network+, Security+, CCNA, CNSE/ACE, FCNSP/FCNSA, CCSA, JNCIS, other vendor, security, and IT certifications preferred

  • 5 plus years of experience and current Subject Matter Expert (SME) with one or more of the following network security platforms: Check Point, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Juniper (SRX and/or Netscreen)

  • Experience with any of the following platforms a plus: FireEye, FirePOWER, FireSIGHT, VMWare ESX, BlueCoat, TippingPoint, ISS, Imperva, WatchGuard, McAfee, Sourcefire

  • 5 plus years of experience working directly with external clients through all stages of the change management and troubleshooting processes including information gathering, validation, research, implementation, confirmation, and documentation

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Works well in a team environment and independently
  • Advanced TCP/IP, routing, switching
  • Strong command-line skills for changes and troubleshooting/debugging
  • Linux tools including grep, awk, vim, pipe, less, bash scripting, etc
